Clothing Must-Haves During The Winter To Spring Transition
I’m trying to be strong and ignore all the incredibly tempting sales emails in my inbox enticing me to buy everything from boots to handbags.
It’s not working.
For some reason, I’m already starting to get spring fever, and with the rush of holiday sales, I have my eye out for wardrobe builders that will help me make the transition from winter to spring wardrobe.
Most women wear some variation of leggings all year round, but retailers mark them down mid-winter. Keep an eye out for strong neutrals like grey or navy blue which can be worn under cute dressed in the months ahead.
or purse, or pocketbook … whatever you call it, now is a great time to invest in a new one. The bulkier winter styles are mostly off the shelves and the cuter, smaller versions aren’t in store yet. What you will find however are the more interesting color combinations or unusual fabrics and leathers. If you’re not a fan of basics, now is a great time to invest in a good every-day bag.
Despite the fact that some of the country will be wearing snow boots for the foreseeable future, the spring styles are slowly starting to make an appearance. But they’re still full priced. Instead, check out the sales racks for classic shoes (think loafers, Mary Janes, ankle boots) that won’t look dated, but will still be marked down as last season’s styles.
Immediately after Christmas, most small leather goods go on sale. Even as you wear lighter layers, there are still some nights when you’ll need a cozy pair of gloves. Look for bright colors and instead of wool or leather, try acrylic or cotton for just the slightest bit of added warmth.
Last year, Pantone’s color of the year was Marsala, which meant that every manufacturer created clothing or accessories in varying shades of deep red. If maroon is a color that looks great on you, you’ll probably be able to stock up on nearly anything in that particular color family. Even if it’s a brand new launch, chances are good it will have been marked down and relegated to last season’s style.
LINGERIE AND NIGHT WEAR
Because we all know that once Valentine’s Day has passed, all the pink and red frilly, lacy, heart shaped undies and cutesy night shirts will be seriously on sale.
