Build Your Own Easter Basket – With Items From The Dollar Store

With Easter just around the corner, I’ve been looking to put together Easter baskets for the little ones in my life (nephews and niece, ages 1, 2, and 3).  The cost of gifts can really add up, and I’m always looking for ways to show my loved ones that I care, and save a few pennies at the same time.

I recently wondered into my local Dollar Tree and found, much to my delight, it was a gold mine for Easter supplies!  Here’s my quick take on how to put together an affordable Easter basket for kids of any age:

Step 1: Pick your base

Every great gift basket starts with a festive base of ample size to hold all the goodies it will contain.  I found some really fun options, and all for just $1!

  • Woven basket
  • Cloth basket
  • Tin
  • Assorted gift bags
  • Basket stuffer
  • Tissue paper
  • Ribbons and bows

Step 2: Fill with plastic eggs

At my local Dollar Tree, I found eggs in all colors – traditional neon, glitter, metallic, even eggs shaped like bunnies!

Step 3: Fill Your Basket!

Pick up as many items as you want to fill your basket and plastic eggs.

  • Candy
    • Chocolate bunny (assorted sizes)
    • Lollipops
    • Mini chocolates
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Coloring books
  • Paint sets and books
  • Stuffed animals

Bonus Tip: Don’t forget party supplies!

  • Egg dye kit
  • Bunny glasses
  • Bunny hats
  • Napkins
  • Plates
