5 Makeup Essentials For Spring

We’ve partnered with, a Procter & Gamble brand, to bring you some of our favorite home and beauty tips, advice and expertise.

Just as you switch out your wardrobe for the new season, your cosmetics bag needs a little updating as well.

Add these five essentials to your makeup bag this spring.

1. A Lighter Lip Color

The quickest way to get in the mood for spring is to find a new favorite lip color. Switch out those dark plums and crimson reds for some of spring’s fresher, lighter lip colors like orange and pink.

Tip: Try COVERGIRL LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Haute Pink or Coral Twist.

2. Must-have Mascara

Mascara is always a makeup bag must, no matter the season. This spring, replace your expired mascara (it usually lasts 3-6 months) with COVERGIRL Full Lash Bloom Mascara by LashBlast Mascara.

3. Coveted CC Cream

Your skin has probably been through it all this winter — cold temperatures, indoor heating and harsh winds suck the moisture from your skin. For spring, replenish your skin with a hydrating formula like Olay Total Effects CC Cream, which also has SPF 15 for when you are outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather!

4. Pop of Nail Color

Popular nail colors for spring include pastels, white and metallic shades. Pick up two or three of your favorite hues and have fun with a little nail art, or keep it classic with a single color.

Either way, you’ll have an endless number of combinations to keep your manicure fresh and up to date. My current favorite is COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Salt Water Taffy.

5. Bright Eyes

One way to have fun with your eyes this spring is to powder on pastel-colored eye shadow. Think about blue, purple or even green tones if you want to make more of a statement. Go with pink, peach and taupe for a subtler look.
